SALMON GUM.Eucalyptus salmonophloia is a smooth-barked tree which can grow up to 30 m tall. It is an icon of the Western Australian wheatbelt. Much Salmon Gum country has been cleared for grain growing. It is named for the salmon-coloured (brownish-pink) new bark which appears in mid to late summer.

It occurs throughout most of the wheatbelt and goldfields to the western edge of the Nullarbor.
