Allocasuarina corniculata is a spreading or erect shrub which grows 1 to 5 m high. It is dioecious, meaning that there are separate male and female plants. The photo shows part of a female plant. The flowers are red and the cones have horn-like projections on them.

The species occurs through the wheatbelt from Mullewa to Lake King and east into the goldfields and the Esperance Plains.
