CURRANT BUSH, SPINY FAN FLOWER. Although no spines can be seen in this photo, Scaevola spinescens is a rigid spiny shrub with white and yellow flowers which smell rather like bacon. It can grow to 2 m high though the plants seen in Westonia Common were around 0.8 m high. The species occurs over most of Western Australia except the south-west forests and the Kimberleys, as well as in all other mainland states.
